The Best Robot Hoover

Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or in school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and best robot hoover support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted room to prevent cross-contamination. It did a great cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different flooring types including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic hoovers vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it's more expensive and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house depending on how dirty the areas tend to be.

If you own a larger home, you should consider selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have number of furniture. Also, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also provides access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It features an impressive 8000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
