Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. 3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competition. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however it will cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and dries mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not foolproof in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the autonomous vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on how dirty they tend to be.

If you have a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to set up the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
