World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to increase an item upgrader mod's gear score up to 700, and then add a final perk. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory before heading to the kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading because of their unique stats. (For example, a perfectly broken point armor that is rolled can be used in melee PvP). Other items, like weapons aren't changed much after an upgrade and therefore aren't worth the cost.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit probability and item upgrading PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also come with a flat bonus which increases their damage per second. Additionally some weapons come with a set bonus that activates when three or more of the same weapon are equipped on a single unit. This bonus could be greater than the damage that a weapon upgrade alone can do.

The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity as well as its current level. For instance an Best item upgrade with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while an upgrade of +3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade the gun will increase until it requires a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.

Upgrades to weapons also change the stats of the base. This is generally a positive thing, but it can also have negative consequences. Upgrades can make things impossible to use, unless you are extremely lucky.

Items of armor can also be upgraded to boost their performance. For example, if you upgrade chests or helms, this will increase its base defense while a belt and gloves will enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor also has the option of rerolling its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it can sometimes roll back to a lower number.

The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats that it will gain after upgrading along with the relative value of those stats. This means that a change from a sword with 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in a weapon receiving 3% of attack damage. However, the 3% doesn't mean that it will be hit for Item upgrading 3 times less often because it's an absolute statistic.

A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button with circling arrows in the menu for items. This will reroll the item level upgrade and change its stats, but it won't reset the weapon's levels or connect to the status of your account.

Armor

A few armor upgrades can make all the difference to your survival. Certain sets can provide MASSIVE improvements in the resistance to curses, poison and fire as well as magic. This makes it easier to get through difficult terrains. Generally speaking, the more defense your character is, the more value you will get from each point of health you have therefore it is important to upgrade your armor as much as possible.

You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four fountains in all each of which requires you to complete a special side-quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. For example the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep pace with a large group of enemies in most cold climates and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded all the way to +20 defense, granting you enough protection to survive an entire raid with a few of your friends.

You can't upgrade armor like weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior then you should concentrate on upgrading your armor to increase physical strength or spell power. It is also recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor you'll still wear at the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you use in the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.

You can also get some benefits to your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to beat the game. For instance the Longsword or Battleaxe. It's nevertheless beneficial to have a few upgrades to the chest armor and helmets to let you escape some monsters.

Potions

Potions are liquids that, when consumed by the player, give a temporary effect. There are five kinds of potions, each having specific effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to improve their level of effectiveness. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by adding redstone dust and glowstone dust.

Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a new trinket. You can upgrade a trinket with as little 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base level as the old trinket, but it also comes with an additional 1% bonus upgrade.

Trinkets can be re-upgraded once they're not needed and allows players to boost their power and value over time. They can be traded between players and are a viable alternative to gold.

In general players should make upgrades to their top-priority items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, then their secondary items and finally, other items of gear will not be replaced in the near future (for instance an earring or cloak). When deciding on which items to upgrade, players should also be aware of the preferred statistics of their class. For example when Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks, they should prioritize upgrading their helm, chest, shoulders, and belt.

Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher ilvl after they're no longer needed and the new trinket will receive an additional upgrade bonus of 1. A re-upgrade, however, will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it can be salvaged with the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still cheaper than purchasing an entirely new trinket.
