They can be extremely loud, despite their adoration for their mate. They can also be a nuisance for those living nearby. They can be heard making ear-splitting screeches and loud calls, which can be annoying to those living in apartments or condos.

Another interesting characteristic of this particular species is that it is monomorphic, meaning males and females are difficult to differentiate. Because of this the only way to determine sex is via DNA testing. Once the bird's sex is determined the breeding process can begin.

The plan included a facility in Washington's westcoast where she could spend the rest of her days and receive human care and be monitored by scientists. The sanctuary pen was to be hundreds of times bigger than her Miami home and be was surrounded by ocean, but not concrete tanks.

Lolita's Diet
