Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes in contact with carpets and the dual side brushes help pull out debris from corners.

The mopping performance, while still impressive, isn't as good. The mop's rotating mechanism spins fast and uses 2.2lbs to clean dirt and stain. I've also noticed that the front arms extend out slightly more than other robots, which can be helpful to maneuver around tight corners and along baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to scoop up larger debris such as books and toys that have been damaged.

Another great feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest robot vacuums and mops I've tried. It is quieter and doesn't create more noise when vacuuming or mopping. The only downside is that the S1 Pro must use a specific cleaning solution to perform mopping, and is sold separately from the vacuum. It's simple to set up and performs well, but it's something you'll need to be aware of if you're buying this robot mop vacuum for the sole purpose of it mopping.

The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who designed its sleek, modern base and mopping pad. It's a major departure from the utilitarian, black bases of competitors like Roborock and iRobot, and a welcome view in a market which is dominated by clunky, boxy units.
