The item upgrade system in World of Warcraft provides players with the option of upgrading the level of weapons, armor, and trinkets. This process is similar to reforging process used in Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor. However instead of using currency, players need to visit an upgrader for their item to complete the process.

Upgrades can be costly, especially for armor and weapons. Depending on which upgrade track you choose, each item level increase can cost Valorstones or Crests. The total costs can be prohibitive for players who do not have the funds or are unable to grind them.

Fortunately the game lets players play a reroll of an upgraded item by using an exclusive tool within the menu for items. This option allows you to exchange the upgraded item for a level 1 version of it that has a different set of bonus effects. This is useful to improve the roll of items that are already upgraded. However, it can also be a waste.

Requirements

Upgrading is the procedure of increasing the level of the items that are equippable such as trinkets, weapons and armor. This improves their power and makes them more effective in combat. A player can reroll an upgraded item by using a Reroll Token to exchange the upgrade for a brand new one. The new item will come with an additional set of bonuses as well as a lower base item level. The rerolled item will have different requirements for strength and dexterity. It is important to note that the item rerolled will not be able to maintain its strength or have any of its wasted resources.

Some upgraded items are only able to be rerolled if the initial item was a Unique Epic, Rare, or Rare. (Dice 6 are dropped by monsters 21+, Giants and Bosses; Dice 12 from Bosses). You will also require different amounts of Minerals, Erons and Giants.

Time

Upgrades to items are a method to boost your ship's performance and gear without needing to upgrade them. The higher the level an item attains the more powerful its stat value will be, and the more items can be upgraded.

Upgrade components can be inserted into trinkets, weapons, or armor to earn an attribute bonus or a special effect, while the equipment is being worn. Some upgrade components have additional cosmetic effects. Players can obtain upgrade items by crafting, purchasing from vendors or on the Trading Post, looting, or receiving as a reward. Players can also retrieve upgraded items by using an upgrade extractor or salvaging with a high-tier salvage kit. Glyphs that are placed in gathering tools, can be freely swapped out without restrictions.

By selecting the item and pressing the green button with a an arrow that rerolls the player can reroll it to create an upgradeable item. This will change the layout and allow players to choose up to six items to be used for "recycling". The item will be replaced by an item level upgrade of level 1. Recycled items will not keep their level, or the resources used to upgrade it.

The maximum upgrade level of an item is determined by the item's tier as well as its quality. Rare and Epic items are able to be upgraded up to level nine, whereas common items are only upgraded up to level six. The upgrades to an item are added to the base statistics of the item which means that they will no longer increase after a certain point.
