The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept in removing dog hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning robot mop and vacuum maps make it simple to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing with a little more noise and a little more cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with the amount of dirt they are.

If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might think from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that vacuum and mop that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or robot hoover to organize the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we have tested. It also has an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
