It's expensive however its features and performance are worth the price.

We used this robot to vacuum and mop a mix of pile carpet tiles, FLOR rugs and hardwood floors within a large, open house floor plan. It was able to vacuum and mop the area of 90m2 in 170 minutes using FREO Mind enabled. This is about average for Gen 4 robots.

The 8.5 cm height means it can get under low furniture, while front cameras and infrared sensors assist it navigate around obstacles and thresholds with ease.

The Scout RX3 impressed us in our tests on how well it cleaned baking powder around corners and baseboards. Its 2,500Pa suction was weaker than other robots, but it was still quiet and moved quickly. It didn't mop and its removable cleaning pad was difficult to attach. It also wasn't able to handle dirt that was dried on.

The app doesn't have advanced features, such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It supports Alexa but its voice controls don't seem to be very clear or responsive. It's also a bit flaky when it comes back to the charging station after the course. Other robots can follow an obstruction or follow an earlier route however the RX3 stumbles around until it finally gives up.

We also had issues with the smart features of the device, namely its mapping feature and digital stay-out zones. While it did a good job of avoiding our shoes and furniture legs however, it was easily stuck by cables and socks, and couldn't handle the tassels of rugs. That's why we chose not to include it in our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and impressive performance. It's worth looking into as an alternative to traditional uprights.
