The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They have motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and offer more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had various flooring types, such as some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxy units this mop and robot autonomous vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing with a little more noise and a little more cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum cleaner best vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, and cleans and dries mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum cleaner best makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not foolproof in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on how dirty they are.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose a model with spot or Best robot Hoover zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home using the app or voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you own a number of furniture. Finally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd imagine from its price. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also provides access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot mop vacuums we've test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
