However unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we test the i3+ does not have a feature for avoiding obstacles, so it may get stuck on things like socks or power cords and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes clearing out any clutter or toys it may encounter. It's also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is low, it returns to its docking station, automatically empties its trash into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning the area where it left off. In our tests, the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our runner-up which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface types, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin, which removes major maintenance sources and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. Once connected we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with vacuums with cords that look like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like an old-fashioned sports car. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of households and can fit in well next to the table for a coffee or a bookshelf that you can spin around like a magic tool.
