Its 8,000pa motor is able to clean dirt, pet hair, and droppings effortlessly. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it comes into contact with rugs, and the dual side brushes help pull out dirt from corners.

The mopping performance is less impressive, but not by much. The rotating mop spins at a high velocity and is pushed down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly scraping away dirt and staining. I've noticed that the front arm extends out a bit more than other robots. This is useful when getting into difficult corners or on baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to pick up larger pieces of debris, like broken toys and books.

The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that can be found in our review, but it comes with some distinct features that make it worth considering. The X1 Omni's most appealing feature is its huge dock, which doubles as a charging base as well as housing for two 4-liter water tanks, a clean sink, and an automatic 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically eliminates.

The base also has a variety of control buttons that let you manually start cleaning or recall the robot or start the dock's auto-emptying process. Hold down two of the buttons to toggle the child lock, which is a nice feature for parents who are worried about kids tinkering with the vacuum.

The X1 Omni, like other robotic vacuums, uses its camera to spot furniture and obstacles in its path. It will stay clear of them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system can map your home 10 times faster than conventional laser detection systems and is four times more precise at finding objects.

Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni can sometimes get so entangled with an obstacle--such as the power cord that is draped across a rug, that it gets stuck and stops working until you free it. While this was rare however, it was a gruelling experience when it happened, especially since the X1 Omni doesn't come with a "stuck" status alert in its application.

The X1 Omni cannot automatically switch from mopping mode to vacuuming mode during cleaning. You will need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad except for the fact that mopping pads haven't been cleaned and dried between use, which can lead to mildew or mold.

On the positive side, the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its modern, sleek base and mopping pad. It's a big contrast to the basic black bases of rivals such as Roborock or iRobot. And it's a welcome sight for a market dominated by clunky boxy units.
